Im happy with the mac messenger.
No webcam - I'll live
No wink, nudges? Thank god for that!
Offline messagings a lil bit of a miss, but mac messenger does what it is intended to do and thats all I need it to do.

kev.

It's a total joke.

What gets me is how the MS team are always going on about Office on the blog! Who really cares!? I'd rather use iWork any day as Office on a Mac is over complex.

What we want to know is when will messenger finally be sorted? I'm at the point where I hate the damn thing so much that I might tell my contacts if they want to IM me they have to use Skype or iChat and it's getting to a stage now where many of my friends are using Macs now too, so I might be able to pull it off. Both of these programs offer MANY more functions and look a lot more attractive than messenger.

I posted on the Mactopia/Mac Mojo/Microsoft:Mac/whatever-they-feel-like calling-it-this-year blog and it was weeded out. i guess they don't like people telling them how it is. LOL

It's been a month!

It's been a month since they said they would give us info at MacWorld.

I seriously believe we will never ever see an MSN client with A/V for the Mac. So much so that I've deleted my passport account and managed to add most of my contacts to Skype. It's amazing how many people actually have it without me trying to convince them to get it! The rest I will talk to on facebook.

Microsoft don't want Mac users on MSN, fine, but I'll take as many people as I can with me. My family is quite close and we've got to the stage where we all have always on computers now. I was going to implement and show people how to use MSN, but I've set up Skype instead. In fact, I'm going over to my sisters house tonight to set up her webcam and show her how to use it.

If we all did this, we could start a revolution away from MSN!

MSN Messenger is a joke? Absolutely. It's a joke no matter if you're on a PC or a Mac. These guys are nutcases, their messenger service is as unintuitive as can be, the chat boxes are huge, and half the time the damn app doesn't even connect to the server.

MSN Messenger is like using a jumbo jet to get to McDonalds down the street.

I'm really glad that the Mac version doesn't have ads (and nudges and winks, I don't like them either.)

The new beta is actually very stable, although the history window can't open, and the webcam doesn't always connect.

And offline messaging?

Partially, since version 7. You can send messages while offline and offline contacts can start chats with you. You won't receive messages that are sent to you after you sign out, though.

Ok, I think receiving messages someone sent to you when you were offline is the more important thing. As is the ability to send messages to someone that is offline. If this doesn't get supported in version 8 we can be pretty sure it's not because of technology limits...
