hey, im new to macs and not to long ago i got sent a link that i clicked without giving any thought to containing a .pif file. im just curious if this file could affect a mac in any way? also, in general, how weary should i be about viruses and malware -- the impression i get is its not a concern at all?

    thanks :)

There are no viruses that exist that run on Mac OS X. Windows applications, including viruses won't run on Mac OS X. There are trojans, but you would have to manually install those, including entering your administrative password. Search the forum for "virus" and you'll find hundreds of threads on this.
