When chatting with AIM users, can you see their avatars and font's/colors in iChat?

Are you referring to while chatting through a transport with AIM users? I thought you always could see their font and avatar. It appears that it's the same for transport chats as well.

I still havnt gotten Yahoo working using any server, so its basically jabber/MSN, AOL and Bonjour windows for me.

I used jabber.dk which works just fine with Yahoo!.
It even gives you nice popup window when you receive email to your Yahoo! mail account (including the subject line, with a nice hyperlink).

Still can't get it to work

I have tried 4 different jabber servers, including the one above and still have the same problem. The remote user can see what I type just fine. When they reply, I can see the bubble, but when they submit, nothing comes across.
I would love to know what I am doing wrong.

I don't use, Jabber, Tiger or Yahoo. (well Jabber and Tiger, I'll use soon)
But could it have something to do with fonts ? It seems the connection is fine, since you get the bubbles. Could it be a render problem ?

Maybe ask the person to change to a different font, it's worth a try.

Well, after many hours of suffering, I have gone back to using Adium. Works like a charm. Just kind of defeats the purpose of being able to hit all IM's from one application.

Can someone suggest some Jabber servers to use as the one I tried to use doesn't seem to cooperate!

Try jabber.zim.net.au it works for Yahoo, MSN and ICQ

ok...i got my jabber account to work in ichat BUT i'm very lost here:

1.Can i have my jabber(msn,yahoo,etc) accounts in ichat's window??
2.How do my MSN,etc buddies to jabber???

thanks for any help :(

Thank and Yahoo!

Thanks for all the info. The graphical tutorial helped me get iChat setup for MSN. I am experiencing the same issues as everyone else with Yahoo!. I cannot see the other person's replies, just the empty text bubble. It works fine using Psi. Has anyone gotten this to work? I wonder if it's a problem with iChat?

Actually, I have the best option for everyone.... instead of having to use a third party, jabber.org.au has set up a web system that does it all for you!

Check it out!

I used Mundo Chat. Actually, you don't even have to install a Jabber client. Mundo Chat has a webmessenger in there so all you have to do is register a new account and add the MSN/Yahoo services. All I had to do later was to configure iChat to use jabber-hispano.org as my server. :D

if only my spanish is a lot better :(
