Will Wright would be crying in his sleep, that his amazing Sim City series has been destroyed by EA. But any smart person knows that EA ruins anything it gets it's hands on. I just hope Will Wright was paid a lot of money for this. He deserves it.

There might be an off chance that this game might be a worthy sequel and will work perfectly on launch.

But since this is EA, I'm not counting on it though. No sale.

It's already been launched, and we already have the answer.

And the answer is No.

Forced online. Small cities.

Bad game is bad.

This game made me sad. It's amazing how these things get screwed up. Bad early design decisions I guess.

I enjoy EA games on iOS, don't get me wrong, but they've left a sour taste in my mouth for some time on PC gaming. I'm sure we all read "ensure a great experience" as "didn't present enough road blocks to make a paying customer feel like a criminal."

They won't. EA is far too out of touch with the gaming community.

Only thing EA is in touch with is their wallet :( city sizes are small because it makes the game boring after a couple of weeks, then queue in app purchases to make it what it should have been from day one.

+1 Another great game series ruined by these sharks, with any luck they will sell it on after this disaster to a company that has some integrity.

online verification is the new black...

I would guess it is a system to help prevent piracy. The Xbox One was also trying to use that kind of system where the console had to check in with the servers and I believe that was an authentication check.

Publishers have been pushing these changes hard.

Same as with most online only games, they want to make sure you pay for it. It is too easy to torrent and pay nothing for games these days. I agree with online only if that is the only way to ensure people pay. Too many people get the games for free these days.

I can understand the logic of wanting to limit piracy, fair enough.

But I was coming more from a gameplay angle and if EA wants to force users to use a complex game over the 'net as the only option to actually play the game then why not host the game from their own website???

Otherwise what is the point of installing the game on your local system if you can only play it through an online connection? Not everyone has a blazing fast internet connection at home (if they have internet access at all!) so wouldn't that affect the quality of gameplay? Also, wouldn't it be more of a drain on your local system (especially laptops) to play SimCity over the internet? If true, why should this be appealing to me as a potential customer to this new game?

let's hope their servers are stable this time, it'd be very frustrating to pay hundreds of dollars for a glitchy and buggy game, but i have to say, i'm addicted to the sims, and there's a high chance i'll buy this game.

Despite everyone telling you how **** it is? It really is appallingly awful. Save your money and do not financially reward EA for failure.

Meh... I'm torn about this. I actually enjoyed playing the game via Bootcamp, but I'd much rather have it native Mac. Rebooting into Windows and waiting for a million Windows Updates to install is exhausting.

You don't have to install those updates you know. At least Microsoft is better at patching security holes than Apple because they do it so frequently.

I'm fully aware of what I'm getting myself into. It's not that I hate Apple, I just love to hate people who are against my opinion, because I'm lovely that way.

The whole idea of tiny connected cities that feed off each other was obviously created as a justification for needing a constant internet connection.

Or, the whole idea of connected cities that feed off each other is a really interesting gameplay idea in a world of MMOs and social networking.

I don't know... I'm willing to give the game developers the benefit of the doubt here. I think they tried to make a really great game, and parts of it needed an internet connection. EA (the publisher) forced that to be an always-on connection.

I'm not fussed about having to play online. I have a half-decent connection. I like all the multiplayer, stuff. That's what this new game is all about.

But their servers are so buggy that I want to have a stable off-line alternative, but there isn't one. I'm constantly losing all my changes because I'm "out of sync" with their servers. Really frustrating :(

TL;DR: Fix your buggy game or give me an offline mode so I don't have to rely on your servers...

I loved SimCity 4, but that crashed on me a lot, too, on my old computer. I have this thing with SimCity games, with awesome gameplay but buggy as hell...

I totally agree. It's frustrating... there's a great game in there somewhere, it's just covered up by bugs.

No there isn't. The path finding is all wrong, the AI is off... It's a pretty shell for a bag of poop.

seriously? their servers couldn't handle the weight of all windows users who bought this game and they are releasing it for mac, no thanks!

What I want is a hassle free Mac App Store version of SimCity.
I'll never sign up for Origin.

How about a hassle free Simcity to begin with? They can ship it on cds and you don't need to connect online.

Yeah I know, stupid dream.
