So I posted a question yesterday about my network storage being in a closet and it overheating. And I've decided that instead of replacing it with a time capsule, I'm going to hook up my airport extreme-N and hard drive to an ethernet port in another room.
The problem now is that I have an xbox 360 and an iMac plugged into other ethernet ports around the home that will not see the networked drive since they are plugged into an earlier router. Here's a flow chart of my desired setup:
Cable modem plugged into generic router-->
Plugs into main board in closet that wires all of the ethernet ports-->
Ethernet ports connect to 1)xbox 2)iMac 3)Airport Extreme-->
a1)Networked Printer a2) Windows Laptop a3)USB HDD a4)Wi-Fi
Now what settings will I have to change to make all of this work with Bonjour? I have heard something about turning off DHCP on the secondary router? All advice is welcome!🙂
