Multi task printer over Airport Extreme

My Airport Extreme works great for network access from my two computers, IPad and two IPhones. The printer is a Brother DCP 7030. It is connected to the Airport Extreme and enables printing from my IMac and MacBook Pro. However, the printer also has a scanner function and when I click on the Image Capture on my IMac it doesn't recognize the Printer/Scanner. To scan I have to unplug the printer cord between the printer and the Airport Extreme and plug in a cable between the printer and the IMac. Is there a fix for this.
