multi-touch trackpad... is it that handy?

Regarding those rumors of a multi-touch trackpad on the new MBPros, really ive been so used to using a mouse on laptops and not using at all the trackpad, that this new multi-touch version seems so useless to my needs or might this not be the case?

Personally, I'm waiting until the 15th to buy my MBP (my first Mac), so I don't know if this is already there or not, but wouldn't the Multi-Touch be great for stuff like the iPhone uses it, or perhaps a bevy of new applications specifically catered to it?

I want to get the new MBPro for m DTP work, so i dont see how this multi-touch trackpad could help me in apps like QuarkXpress or the Adobe CS3!
