I want to know if anybody thinks that it would be possible to get some sort of software that would allow the MBP to use the same multi touch actions as the MBA. it is the same hardware right? so i would think all i need to do is get the right software

Pretty sure its not the same hardware.

Currently, two finger scrolling works because the trackpad recognizes two inputs and then only has the ability to average the two inputs for a midpoint.

When doing so, the OS interprets it as a scroll command rather than a mouse movement.

Actually in Linux the trackpad can recognize 3 distinct inputs. It should be possible.

The trackpad can surely recognize three fingers. If you use one, the pointer moves, two fingers scrolls, and three fingers does nothing. I'm sure someone could write some bit of software to make it work.

Forgive my possible ignorance since I'm still a Windows user - But not for long.

What would happen if you install the MBA touchpad "Driver" onto a MBP?
