Great start! I have a couple more for your to-do list (you're probably already aware of these but I didn't see them mentioned):

1. Password-protect the 'quit' button
2. Loop the "alarm" sound until a password is entered
3. Disable sleep mode when armed
4. Password-protect the "set password" button
5. Show an indicator of the arm status (even just a simple green "Unarmed"/red "Armed!" message
6. Disable battery removal except by authorized users ;) (kidding!)

thanks for your ideas, now the quit button thats in the about window on the beta is there only for the beta for users to kill the application if the program wont disarm, as for the bettery removal i do have a idea :p j/k

As for the arm status, if anyone knows how to make it so the dock icon changes on demand, please contact me and ill send you the project file so i can assist you.

The loop and password protected set button is being added but might not be available until 3.0.2 due to the huge list of items that are being implemented.

Also sorry to say but the sleep being disabled when lid is closed is way out my knowledge but as always if you know please tell me

Not to worry, that's more of a perpetual "to-do" item...I don't even think iAlarmU or whatever it's called can do it effectively and reliably.

As for the arm status, maybe just start with something in the application window itself, tied to the arm/disarm buttons. In fact, you could even consolidate the buttons so that the label changes like a toggle switch. I'm not sure how to go about changing the dock icon, but if no one has any pointers, talk to some of the Adium developers. They know.

I wish I could help out more, but my programming is limited to the web...I have only a barely cursory ability to develop for Cocoa, Carbon, VB, etc. and my Applescript isn't much better :).

well to tell you the truth ive never used xcode or applescript before i started this project, it has been the help of places like applescript.com, as for the idea of the button changing it sounds like a promising idea but i thought the dock would be the quickest and easiest

just an ideia, it would be much more helpfull if there was a bluetooth alarm, just like this but when the alarm went on it would send an alert to the mobile, for example through salling cliker

It could be possible, if i ever get time ill try to add it.

Also if anyone with graphic design knowledge could they attempt to make a logo for MultiAlarm, iAlertU has a fancy icon and i was hoping someone would help create one for MultiAlert, rember everyone that takes part in MultiAlarm gets there name credited for the support

the new beta version for the hi-res powerbook isn't working at all for me. i get applescript errors.

I have come to the conclusion this is due to a bad build that i posted, but hey thats why its a beta version its extremly bugged:p

umm if you can suggest a way, ill think about it but it will be a long time

Just make a movement of the mouse illegal and make that set off the alarm.
use the remote arm/disarm.

I think that wouyd be quiteobvius.

well that ideas already been said before and well its not easy to just slap it in to the code, but never fear ill try to work on it, but it could be a long time till i ever make it, even version 3 of multi alarm has had to be on hold due to uprising issues

MultiAlarm 3.1

Finally here after a week of private beta testing I am proud to announce MultiAlarm version 3.1

I would like to thank all those that have helped develop and test MultiAlarm, with out you guys MultiAlarm wouldn’t be what it is today. If you believe I have missed your name in the credits please just email me and ill add you.

Download – If you come across a error or you need help please use the support system

This new version brings with it a massive change list which will be explained below.

The biggest bug which was in the last version was that the MacBook motion engine was not included, well this bug is fixed and this version should work on all MacBooks

One of the most helpful add-on which came with this version was error messages when something goes wrong, this will enable me to know exactly where the error occurred and fix it. Along with this MultiAlarm will also check if your machine is “supposed” to have a SMS sensor.

We have also added in external alert features, these are “External AppleScript Execution” and a “Email System” with the new Email System you will be able to email you phones email address and be notified by SMS (Only if set up by your mobile company, May cost money)

The keychain system which is used for the passwords is now slipstreamed and will be easier on the end user (Note: Every time you change your password you will need to authorize MultiAlarm to access the item again)

Also as a little extra gift i have added a screen lock feature so you can lock you screen when you walk away, This feature will work on all Macs (Note: You can not lock screen when alarm is armed nor can you arm the alarm when the screen is locked)

Version 3.1
Included error codes to help diagnose problems
Cleaned code
Added detection to check for SMS
Added scripting ability
Alarm will error better if motion can not be found
Minor touch ups in code to help end user have more slipstream experience
Keychain is now slipstreamed into MultiAlarm
Cleaner graphics used
Lower memory foot print then previous versions
Added email system
Added Screen Lock
Fixed bug with MacBooks

I'd be willing to give it a shot if you could somehow have the alarm still active once the lid is shut. Because that's all it would take for a theft to turn it off and sneak off with your laptop.

I am still trying to come up with a effective way to stop that from happening, really its just that AppleScript has reached it limits in a sense. I have been trying to port MultiAlarm v2.4 to cocoa so i can add such features but its a bigger task then i first imagined

Well after a long time of developing and sleepless nights i am proud to release MultiAlarm version 3.2

This update contains alot of improvments in areas and also allows users to customise the alerts to their tastes, but i wont bother to go through each of them and bore you to death so ill just give you the download links right away.

Download

The source code will be uploaded soon once it is cleaned up and ready for public viewing, if you really want the code right away just leave a post on this entry.

As some may be asking about the "sleep" bug, i am working with another developer on solutions that may help fix this bug.

Changelog:

Version 3.2

New screen lock
New Screen Lock log window
MultiAlarm Preferences cleaned up and added screen-lock
Multiple Sounds
Improved code
Cleaned up project file
Fixed location error when using MultiAlarm in folders with spaces
Fixed No Support error
Set Password prompt now requires password to be entered twice
User can set Sound Alert Volume
Sound Selection is easier

awesome new release!

my only problem with it is that it always uses the "lost.wav" sound, no matter which one i choose. i'm on a hirespb.
