Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a new multifunction laser printer (Print, Scan, Copy) for use at home with support for Big Sur / M1 Mac. It should be as compact as possible.

I would like to connect the printer using Airprint only. I do not want to use the software and drivers provided by the manufacturer if I don't have to. Especially I don't want to use any software that requires me to use any kind of cloud registration.

I know AirPrint works fine for printing but what about scanning? Is that possible using Airrpint only?

Any suggestions for a specific device?

You can scan using an AirPrint printer without using the manufacture's software/drivers.

Set up a scanner to use with Mac

If you’ve already set up a printer that includes a scanner, you may be able to use its scanner features without any additional work.
If you have a multifunction AirPrint printer and scanner, you don’t need to check for software updates.

Yes, I've noticed Apples information about using a scanner by AirPrint. But it says '...you may be able to use its scanner features without additional work'. So I'm not sure about that.

I'm especially interested in the Canon MF113w but I can not find any information about it concerning its AirPrint abilities. And as far as I can see the drivers and utilities are not apple silicon native.
