I took advantage of the 100 bucks off when buying a new printer with a new mac and the sheet feeder scanner on ours works great.

I believe that Fujitsu makes at least one multi-page scanner that works well with Macs. Cost was about $400.

My own personal experience has been with three different HP scanners, all very bad. One was a dedicated scanner, and it was so flaky I just gave up on it. I now have a 5500-series multi-purpose machine that is fine for copying, faxing, and printing, but useless for scanning.
