I got a 2020 Macbook pro from work. Pretty lame specs but I'm glad my job has me on Macos VS windows.

Right now I have a USBC-Display port 27" 1440p/144hz display running perfectly along with a USBC-HDMI 24" 1080p/60hz with the macbook itself to make a nice 3 display setup.

I was thinking of replacing the 24" with a nicer 1080p 144hz display.

Will the macbook have any issues running another 144hz display?

Which 2020 MacBook Pro?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) only supports one external display. So I guess you might have an Intel MacBook Pro since you can use two external displays. But you could have an M1 with a DisplayLink adapter.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) only supports two DisplayPort 1.2 displays but that's good enough for two 1440p 144Hz displays (that's similar bandwidth as 4K 60Hz).

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) is more capable so it should also be able to do two 1440p 144Hz displays.

13-inch 4 Thunderbolt. It worked

Hi, This is an old post, but I'm wondering which macbook you use?
Is this your macbook https://support.apple.com/kb/SP819?viewlocale=en_US.
In the specification, it said that the macbook only support for 60Hz display. Is there 144Hz option in your macbook setting ?
The displays listed in the Technical Specifications pages are only examples. Macs are not limited to 4K 5K 6K 60Hz. The refresh rate limit depends on the resolution and maximum pixel clock. The maximum pixel clock depends on max bandwidth and bits per pixel. Max bandwidth depends on the GPU and the ports and cables. Max resolution depends on GPU and vram.
