HomePod Multiple Homepods/Same Apple Music Account Question

Does anyone know whether two homepods, linked to the same iCloud/Apple Music account, can play different music simultaneously? So a child can play the music he wants in his room, and the parents can play something different in the kitchen? Or is a separate iCloud account required? We are on the Apple Music family plan, so linking the second Homepod to a separate account would be possible (but not preferable for other reasons).
