Here is the run down of what i have going on..
We just got our first mac, switched over from PC.
I have an iphone that I have been syncing with icloud for a few months now. My wifes phone was synced with our PC. my daughters iphone was also synced with our PC, on a different user account on the computer.

We share my icloud calendar, so we all know who has what scheduled when.

I would like to set up my wifes iphone to sync with icloud (mainly her contacts!) as we are having issues with itunes merging her contact with my daughters.

Can I sync her contacts with icloud as well? keep in mind that i dont want her contacts on my phone and she doesnt want mine.
I assume that if we try to use the same apple id for her phone as mine it will merge the contacts.

Can we use her apple id (used for imessage) to sync her contacts (and whatever else) and at the same time still share my icloud calendars?

    Thanks for the help!

You can use the same Apple ID so you can share Apps, but she will need a separate iCloud ID to keep yours and your wifes contacts etc from being merged the same

Would we still be able to share my icloud calendar if she uses her id to sync her contacts?

Yes you would just need to also add your icloud details as an additional account, but just set it to sync calendars.

Yeah, that's what I do with my wife. We share a calendar, photo stream, notes, Find my iPhone/iPad, reminders, and iCloud Documents (we wish we didn't have to do that), but we don't share contacts & bookmarks.

You do not need to share credentials to share a calendar but you can if you want as others have said. iCloud allows you to Share your calendar(s) with "any" other iCloud ID if you want to authorize them. You can give them read only or read/write authorization. For me I have a Personal Calendar that only I can see, a joint calendar with my wife that both can read/write. Also, you can create a PUBLIC Calendar that anyone (not just iCloud people) can read only. I use that for my work calendar and also my golf club calendar. Calendar Sharing is easy to use. My wife and I like to have our personal iCloud Credentials for our separate use. We do have an iTunes Account where we can share all of our purchases. We also use that ID for the Mac App Store so we can share Mac Apps on all of our Macs. Pretty easy do do all of this.
