Okay, where do i start here...

First- I'm planning on getting the new MacBook Pro when its released, and will be selling my macbook to pay for the majority of it. I'm trying to decide when the best time to sell my macbook would be. I'd like to try and get the most money i can for it, but also go as little time as possible without a computer. With new macbooks almost imminent and hopefully macbook pros, i know the value of my macbook will go down, so i'd like to try and sell it before then.

Second- When I do get my MacBook Pro (i've decided to just buy the current one if they dont release an update in september :() i'd like to make the transfer from this computer to that computer as easy as possible. I back up with time machine and was wondering if i could "restore" my new MacBook Pro with a time machine backup.

Third- My contract with verizon expires in october and i'm planning on getting an iPhone 3g at that time. Problem is, i've got an iPod Touch 32GB which, once i have my iPhone, I wont be needing any more. That combined with the fact that apple is releaseing new ipod touch models means i need to sell my touch before those come out... I think... How much does the value of an ipod typically decrease when the next generation comes out?

I think thats it for now... or at least I hope it is. Thanks for any help you can give me! :)

Yes, you can use your TM volume. When you start the new mac for the first time, Migration Assistant will prompt you for this volume. Just connect it to your new mac and it'll take care of everything for you.

Even with programs and everything? I wont have to re-activate or anything like that, it will just be like my old computer on my new computer, so to speak.

Some you will, some you won't. If an app parses the logic board's ID number, then you likely will. When I migrated to my hackintosh I had to reregister Aperture, but not Photoshop CS3.

oh well, i can think of worse things.

I'm starting to fear that for this to work out i'm going to have to go Mac-less for almost a month and iPod-less for almost two =/

As for your pricing of your macbook...
If you remember, I asked about how much you would sell it to me for and you said 1200.

To me, that's VERY steep.
Especially now since I just found a REV A black macbook for 600 that I'm buying.
And it's in mint condition.

That's HALF of what your asking.
