No Apps are running in the background unless there is an icon(s) (arrow or play) in the top menu bar.

[Déjà vu]They are not open unless there is a arrow or play icon ion the task bar.[/Déjà vu] They are just suspended and don't use recourses. Read the linked thread.

What made you think of that?! My iPhone is super responsive even with my 100 apps in the multitasking bar. Yet I have the same battery life.
