Backgrounding GPS is my biggest love of multitasking, followed by Pandora and Pocket Tunes(to listen to Sirius radio). I background audio, pretty much all day.

That's nice feature, the home button turns into a force quit button when you don't have multitasking! I'm totally ditching every benefit of MT because that's all I wanted.

I never said it was a good idea to ditch MT, but nice try though.

You want to lose the benefit of keeping a chat open in the background just so you can save 4 seconds when the app crashes? You don't to keep the seconds saved from every app launch because it has a saved state?

What exactly is the benefit of keeping a chat open in the background for those 4 seconds? After I go through the song-and-dance of the force quiting and reopening Beejive, the exact same chat is there. Wow, it's almost magical. Besides, an app is not really running in the background anymore if it is hanging/frozen, is it?

So, in reality, sorry, but you are wrong. I love MT. It's fantastic. I wouldn't give it up. But it's certainly not free of faults.

I mean the 4 seconds that it would've taken to restart BeeJive isn't a great loss compared to the loss of state saving.

BeeJive is a particularly bad example because it overcame the lack of MT in iOS3, especially since it uses server side chat connections.

But by your admission, it's the developers fault that it crashes every time you lose/gain wifi?

I'm not a apple fanboy, but I cannot see any (and you haven't convinced me of any) faults of iOS's implementation of MT. The MT bar could be improved, but I very rarely use it anyway.

I multitask all the time. Music is always playing on my iphone, I take notes constantly in NoteMaster, and then there is everything else I use the phone for. So I probably have at least 3 apps running most of the time.
