Looking for a program for OSX that will convert video formats (ex - AVI to MP4) that is mulithreaded. I have a mac pro on the way, and really want to take advantage of its power.

thank you!

Is Handbrake not multithread capable?

According to their homepage:

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 converter, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

It doesn't say WHAT operations are multithreaded (could be 1 UI thread and 1 processing thread), but I doubt they would make this claim unless they meant video conversion can be done on multiple threads simultaneously.

Encoding a dual pass, 1000bit VBR h.264 DVD on my old Powermac takes about 2 days...so needless to say I've not experimented with Handbrake too much.
