Multitouch gestures not working in YouTube on iPad air2?

Just fired up YouTube for th first time and realised the only way to get out of it is with the button.

4 finger swipe up doesn't work, nor 5 finger pinch or 4 finger swipe left.

It works in every other app!

I keep having the gestures disappear. Disabling / enabling in settings brings them back. This is something that happened during the iOS 8 beta, but for whatever reason it's happening again on the Air 2 in some cases.
