Music and Podcasts on lock screen - Missing

Hey all
Just upgraded to an iPhone 12 Pro Max from and iPhone X
On the X under iOS 14 the lock screen had a mini player that appeared showing a mix of podcasts and music to choose to play
One the new 12 Pro Max the mini player only shows on the lock screen if I have air pods on and have just stopped the music or podcast in their iOS apps
Any idea what setting I am missing to get the mixed use mini player on the lock screen?

I seem to be getting the now playing mini player on the lock screen whenever I put on AirPods even if I wasn't playing anything and there's nothing to play.
