Music.app skips

I have a very odd situation: whenever I'm using Music.app in Big Sur (Macbook Pro), it occasionally skips a few notes of a song just before the end of the selection. The end of the song IS there, but a few notes (maybe a half second?) drop out and then it plays the last second or so properly. It doesn't happen to every song; it seems to be random. If I back it up to play the end of the selection again it plays fine.
