This seemed to happen after upgrading to iOS 11 - I assume I changed something, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to get the controls working....what am I doing wrong? (there is a song playing when I took this screenshot)

This seemed to happen after upgrading to iOS 11 - I assume I changed something, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to get the controls working....what am I doing wrong? (there is a song playing when I took this screenshot)
I get this periodically. The only thing I can get to fix it is a restart, which is becoming exceedingly annoying. I have to restart my phone 2-3 times a day for various issues just like this.
