iPod Music Formats

Just wondering which takes up the least space and sounds the best? .m4a or .mp3? Currently all my music is .mp3 but I was curious which one is the best format?

I know I can convert them all at once that is why I am asking.

m4a it's better at lower bit rates because the AAC codec is more advanced something around 192 kbs mp3 sounds as good as 128 kbs m4a

By converting a lossy format to a lossy format, your files will sound worse than they probably started out with. If you want to do it right, you should encode your music from the original cd audio off the compact disks.

Yes the *.mp3 is the best music format , if you have any other format you can use transfering software such as xilisoft audio converter for mac can rip it to *.mp3
