May I ask if anyone still has these bugs in beta 5?
  1. Right click, Add to Playlist on a song. The list of "Recents" at the top shows random old playlists you haven't touched in a year
  2. Switch to Now Playing by clicking the album art in the bottom bar, then click the three dots, Add to Playlist, every playlist is grayed out.
  3. From that Now Playing view, click that PiP icon in the top left of the window to switch to Mini Player. Every playlist in Add to Playlist is also grayed out. If you open Mini Player by right-clicking the album art in the bottom art, they're not grayed out.
These basic bugs in a basic feature (playlists) have survived enough macOS versions that I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one experiencing them.

On top of everything, iTunes / Music App to this day remains unresponsive while adding music to the library. There is just no reason for that.

Does anyone else have issues with their library on Mac? I cannot add songs to the library, changes that I make on iOS never reflect on Mac, and so on.

May I ask if anyone still has these bugs in beta 57?
  1. Right click, Add to Playlist on a song. The list of "Recents" at the top shows random old playlists you haven't touched in a year - FIXED
  2. Switch to Now Playing by clicking the album art in the bottom bar, then click the three dots, Add to Playlist, every playlist is grayed out. - FIXED
  3. From that Now Playing view, click that PiP icon in the top left of the window to switch to Mini Player. Every playlist in Add to Playlist is also grayed out. If you open Mini Player by right-clicking the album art in the bottom art, they're not grayed out. - FIXED
If you are still experiencing them, it's likely just you. Try basic troubleshooting.

I found they fixed play the icloud music, that it was messed up in Sequoia and Tahoe. Even I have subscription to Apple music, only the titles of the albums were added via icloud in the left panel of Music app. If I wanted to listen them, I had to download them manually song by song first. It is fixed in Golden Gate.

It's so sad that the control bar is still at the bottom...
Right?!?! Apple's own HIG say to not utilize a UI that can interfere with other options. Like having the Player Control bar along the bottom. It's then right above where the dock would be when in full screen mode, so it's been really easy to accidentally bring up the dock and click an app to open I don't mean to.

Or like how so many app options are RIGHT where the notifications slide in.. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to click on something in the top right and OOPS I clicked a notification from my iPhone and now iPhone Mirroring is trying to open to show me whatever I accidentally clicked on...

It does seem like they're letting computers/Siri/Ai decide "what's best" now. I'm sure an entire team of people that used to actually look at it has either been moved on or let go.

This is the #1 fix I want them to make. So frustrating.

I recommend sending this suggestion through Feedback Assistant. I did so in the first beta.

Is the audio crackling problem resolved on Golden Gate? I keep having issues with two sets of headphones from different manufacturers on two Macs, plus I've read other people having similar issues with this on macOS and iOS 26. Thanks.

If you can reset Core Audio in Terminal and it gets "fixed", then at least you'll know it's an issue with the OS and not your devices..
Code:
sudo killall coreaudiod

I've had this issue for a LONG time now, with it even expanding to using USB microphones and the recordings sounding all digital and bad.. I'm hoping this is fixed, too..

It gets fixed for a brief period then comes back in no time. I even deleted the audio preferences in Library and then after a while the crackling came back. It is incredibly annoying for me too! Thanks for your reply.

Another year, another macOS release, and another broken version of Music. And, another rant just in case someone at Apple gives a flying flack and reads these threads.

Year after year, macOS release after macOS release, the Music app continues to be an anemic, impotent and buggy hot mess of its former self. It's as if the developers went out of their way to take iTunes, strip away most of its core and intuitive functionality, design and features, ignore the most blatant bugs typically found in amateurish apps, and turn it into the worst app Apple has ever created while making the most simple tasks difficult or simply non-existent.

It's shocking how $10B+ in annual Apple Music revenue sits on this gigantic POS of an app. I suppose if you just hit shuffle, play, and make random playlists on the fly, most of the issues go unnoticed by the masses. But for the rest of us, it's time they finally either fix the app, tear it down and start over, or bring iTunes back for those of us who only own (and want) local libraries. The Music app is another awful byproduct of the streaming age. Enough already, Apple!

Having said that, and as I say every year, here's hoping that this is the year that Apple finally fixes the app that I used to live in, but now dread opening. And I am grateful to the OP of these mega 'Music app' threads and all those who are also doing the lord's work in trying to troubleshoot and get the bug reports to Apple. I've submitted so many feedback messages over the years that I've lost count.

 will never get music figured out since mavericks.
iTunes was 90% while MUSIC is just garbage.

clears throat........

My situation is FooBar™ music app runs, plays and uses a external blade to play FLAC files.
can new music do this?

today I had to unplug my Hopepod* speaker mii blue to play an album via fFooBar™
which was annoying.
therefore, perhaps music might be a better option than FooBar™ in 2027.

Tim did not want us to use our old CDs to play music, hopefully new ceo: slick does!

*hopepod as I hope they pod!

Even the simplest of things are still not working. For example: If you select multiple songs from the queue and press backspace, only the first one disappears.
edit: You can't select multiple albums or artists anymore, either. Only works in the Songs view now.
