What is the best third party music player app on iOS. I don’t need much just the basic stuff.

You may need to define what you are looking for a little more for some better suggestions.

For me, I really enjoy VLC as it will play many media types, video, or music, and has a few powerful features. You can also use it as a streaming player, but, it can be a bit complicated for some to do that. You can add files to it via Google Drive, or iCloud as well. I find it nice for adding video for presentations I may need to do with my iPad, and not have to connect it to iTunes. It also works for Music like this too.

I have started using Google Play, a free equivalent to iTunes Match. I made the switch and do not intent to extend my iTunes Match subscription when I reach the renewal date because of how bad the stock music app is and the dismantling of iTunes Match features like Genius and iTunes Radio.
Google Play is free and allows you to upload all your music (maximum 50,000 songs) and have complete access on the Google Play app on any device. The app design is not perfect, but a lot better than what Apple is offering and the good news is that you get a Genius like feature, instant mixes. Since Apple has not added new music to Genius results since 2015 and cut off access to the feature on iOS, the instant mix feature on Google is the best Genius like feature available.
Apple has clearly designed the music app to push non Apple Music subscribers out, which is very disappointing. I know it is cliche to say at this point, but I think Steve Jobs would be horrified if he saw today what the music app has become.

I would say "foobar2000"; it is finally available for ios & osx(?) on apple store. Have been using foobar2000 in windows for years.

A 2nd choice is "Vox" that I have been using on the Mac Mini.

Foobar2000 is free as well as Vox; both were the only audio player that I had found that can play albums/folders with nested folders. When an album "collections" is ripped, it may have been done with each performer having their own sub-folder so most other players like itunes is not able to automatically play the entire album without having to manually create a playlist for the album or manually select each song/folder in turn.

My favorites:

Stezza and Listen Music Player

Unfortunately these apps are somewhat outdated. Especially Listen. Don't know when they will be updated for the iPhone X, if ever at all.
