Vevo today announced that it has brought its popular music video streaming service to the new Apple TV in a tailor-made native tvOS experience. Available to download right now, Vevo says that the app will act as "an extension of the company's product-driven strategy to deliver the best cross-platform music video and entertainment experience."

"Artists and audiences deserve great music video experiences, whether on mobile devices or connected TVs," said Erik Huggers, CEO, Vevo. "The launch of our new Apple TV app represents an important milestone for Vevo. We continue to invest in what we believe is the premium platform for music videos and related original content."
Customized for the living room setting of the Apple TV, Vevo's app will let users seamlessly sync their music video favorites and playlists between the company's other applications, browse current trending videos, and specify searches through the service's back catalogue of genres and artists. The Spotlight section will let Vevo users stream a personally curated selection of videos on autoplay as a method of discovery for potentially finding new favorite songs.

Those interested can download the new Vevo Apple TV app on the tvOS app store beginning today. The company also has an app for iOS devices. [Direct Link]

This article reads like there wasn't a Vevo tvOS app already.

This is just an update for the existing app right? No need to re-download anything?

I don't like Vevo anymore. I can't get it to play old videos just the new crap from today.

Exactly. I want an "old" style MTV playlist to run classic music videos from the golden age of music video watching. Vevo only plays new stuff.

as horrible as their app now. it used to be so good and well organized. now all u got is those useless three tabs. i dont care about Spitlight or Favorites. All i want is a front page with all the latest videos and the top videos in one spot. now its as bad as Facebooks "Too News" crap with an algorithm no one understands

usability sucks

Vevo has managed to make a more responsive and intuitive UI than Apple's own tvOS. This is fantastic!

The tap to show controls, swipe and press to select an action or let go to dismiss, is not only intuitive but it's incredibly responsive. If used in tvOS, it would fix the accidental video scrubbing when picking up the remote on the wrong side. Touching the touch surface of the remote would only bring up the UI on screen. Actions would only be taken by pressing the button which is far less likely to result inadvertently. The Vevo app does this perfectly.

The rest of the UI is big and bold, easily viewed from across the room as it should be on a tv. Everything is straightforward and easily understandable. No pulling menus out to find essential controls. It's all out in one simple screen.

Well done Vevo. I hope that this is one thing Apple copies in future versions of tvOS and the Apple Music app for AppleTV.

Why can't I see the three channels of Vevo TV anymore? Can anyone still see Vevo TV?
