These are the apps that have stood the test of time with me. Others have come and gone, but these have endured:

Utilities
- Launchbar (Quicksilver is great but Launchbar is more stable IMHO)
- Compost trash utility
- Macaroni system maintenance
- DefaultFolderX so I can tag files as I save them
- Filespot for searching file tags and metadata
- TypeIt4Me for speeding up regular text entry
- Hazel for defining folder rules
- Growl for system messages
- Interarchy for FTP (also have Transmit but Interarchy seems more reliable)
- Keyboard Maestro for macros
- Pathfinder for enhancements over Finder
- SuperDuper for image backups
- Chronosync for file and folder sync'ing

Office Productivity
- Yojimbo for todo and notes
- Mailsteward for archiving email
- Mailtags and Mail Act-on
- SpamSieve
- 1Passwd for saving web passwords, etc
- VoodooPad for wiki-like note taking
- MS Office for work compatibility
- iWork '08 for personal spreadsheets and stuff
- OmniGraffle for flowcharting

Other
- Safe Place for personal encrypted data
- Audio Hijack Pro
- iLife '08

Duff-Man says...if you are going to ask a question like that perhaps you ought to tell us first just what you use (or intend to use) your Mac for, otherwise the responses are going to be all over the place and ultimately of little real use. Having said that, if you know what you are going to be using it for the the thread mentioned a few posts up (it's a sticky thread at the top of this forum) is probably a good place to get you started in the right direction....oh yeah!

My list:

Quicksilver- Launches literally anything on my computer; also controls iTunes
Adium- Every instant messaging service under the sun (some left out) in one App
Transmission- For me torrent needs
Skitch- Very handly app, takes screenshots and can simply edit them
AppZapper- Deletes apps and there extra files
Synergy- Controls iTunes as well and scrobbles to Last.Fm

Thats basically it.
