It depends on what you will be using it for.
Personally I have always installed the following programs.
Little Snitch - Managing outgoing connections, providing control of which programs are allowed to send data.
1Password - Password manager, there exist quit a few, but I have always preferred this one.
1 Blocker - Adblocker, there are many others, but this one is also able for IOS and can sync rules between devices.
IINA - Video player, personally I like this better then VLC as it looks way better and is more streamlined.
smcFanControl - fan control software
Amphetamine - prevent display from sleeping
CoconutBattery - battery monitor
Alfred 3 - Better spotlight

This article explains battery chemistry well and gives some good advices on how to use the battery the optimal way.

The basic idea is that you do not let your Mac deplete its battery below 20% and be carefull about charging it higher than 80%. Personally I use my macbook as I see fit but keep the things mention in the link in mind. So mine is often sitting plugged in while in use staying at 100%. I usually take it off the charger once or twice each month and use it to around 20% and then charge it again. if you can, avoid getting your battery hot as it has a negative effect on its overall durability.

Not any faster that i can tell - mostly I just like having the Firefox "separate search window" and also find the password manager and cookie management easier on Firefox.

I use Firefox as my main browser and use apple as a personal browser (Safari for banking etc).

no antivirus here neither. should I get something which tries to communicate out I have Little Snitch which will catch it.
And then I have plenty of backup I can revert too in worst case

Hey
I need something very similar to winscp..

I want to have 2 paths in same window so i can drag and drop files between my server (not local and server)
Also i would like to have the duplicate functionallty from winscp, so i can select in which path to paste the selected file

Thanks

I downloaded transmit i see duplicate function but i cant select where to duplicate it is there any keyoboars shortcut or something?

I usually just drag the file or folder from the local window to the server window or vice versa ( make sure both windows show the correct path / location / destination)

Edit - also you can use the contextual menus - press control while selecting the file ( or right click)

Exactly thats what i want ..not having to be in same folder just duplicate the file in a specific path ..it saves so much time..
Or at least is there any fast way to copy the path of current file ? And insert it on the other side

I havent found yet a ftp app that has the path bar editable..so you can manually enter a path.. i wonder why..

I don't know - maybe because one wrong character in the path can cause an error? I highly recommend Transmit - best FTP on Mac - been using for more than 10 years.

The split windows view does show the "file path" in the bar at the top of the windows and allows multiple file transfers and complete folder transfers etc.

Also great for viewing hidden files and also for syncing local files and folders in addition to remote / server files and folders.

you can choose to edit files with your favorite HTML / PHP editor within transmit - see preferences < files

Im using transmit aswell but in windows that functionallity was very handy..because i have 2 subdomains with same files and when i updated one subdomain and want to transfer the file i just do duplicate and in the path i only change the subdomain

No matter what, MenuMeters (or iStat menu) is the one very useful. You can monitor your mac at any time.
