When Verizon ships your iPhone, do you have to be home at the time to sign for it? I want to say I read you have to sign for it or they will take it back to the post office.

Any confirmation?

You can pre-sign for it by leaving a note to leave it at your door (or backdoor/backyard) with your signature.

However, by doing this, you relieve UPS/FedEx any responsibility if it gets stolen from your front porch.

Do tell us, where is your front porch located?

Usually electronic companies put a hold on packages that this can not happen. I know Apple does offer an official pre-signing slip that you can print from their website. But a standard note will not suffice. I am not sure how Verizon will be with this, but I do know that my brother ordered a replacement Droid 2 from Verizon and they wanted a direct signature in order to deliver it, Fedex didn't even leave their standard slips which you can sign and put back on the door, they said he needed to directly receive and sign for the package.

I highly doubt that they will ship by USPS to take back to the post office if you weren't available.

Do you think it's ok if my doorman signs for it? Usually all my packages from Amazon get delivered to him and he signs everything.

I’m a cover driver for UPS and as a driver you are NOT allowed to leave a package without a signature on the diad board. A piece of paper with your signature won’t cut it. BUT, you have two options. Verizon is really good at emailing you the tracking info after it’s been shipped. So the next morning, I’d say 5:30am. Call the UPS center that’s going to have your package (Do not call the 1-800-pick-ups number or this won’t work) and ask the office worker to please put your package on will-call. ***they will need the tracking number*** so when you get off work, school or whatever, you can pick up the phone at the UPS hub that has it. OR you can notify a neighbor that your expect a package today and if they can have them sign for your package. Then write the UPS driver a note asking them to have your neighbor (with their address) sign for your package. Make sure to sign and date the note. Sorry for the long read, but I’m just trying to help.

Both of our iPhone 4's were shipped by FedEx from AT&T and were left at the front porch. Wife was home so no big deal as she heard the knock and by the time she opened the door the driver was speeding away. No signature was given in either case.

Our FedEx driver told us even with this note he wouldn't have left the iPhone 4 at our door. Luckilly someone was home, but it sounds like they still use discretion.

Iphones were delivered via Fed Ex and left on my front porch for several hours this past summer.

I live in an apartrment complex...can i leave a note saying to take it to the leasing/front office and have someone in there sign for it?

My UPS delivery guy usually just leaves it inside my house (small town) where my dog protects it from potential thieves. I hate fed ex because they always come after I leave for work and require a signature and then when I am not there drive it 100 miles back to where the hub is and come back the next day, usually after I leave for work. It is really upsetting. I wish we could choose the company that delivers our packages instead of the company we order from choosing them. From my knowledge Verizon ships via UPS and Apple (ATT?) ships via Fed ex.

the same exact thing happened to me with a couple of packages..one was left at the front door and it was there when I got home and another time the doorbell rang and by the time I got to the door and opened it the fed ex person was gone! smh so I think I am going to preorder and hopefully I will get my vacation day approved so I can be home for it or I will have to pick it up Friday morning or Saturday morning from fed ex place. hmmm I wish it could be picked up at a Kinkos/ fed ex 24 hour place. lol

I work 10 hour shifts in the OR and get off when everything is closed...in case someone suggested I get it later that eve.

Do we know if it is UPS or FedEX that will be delivering the phones?

(Fedex offers evening and Saturday delivery options)
and FE let's you have your package dropped off at Fedex Office (Kinkos) for later pickup.

I've always ordered my phones online through Verizon or by phone. I have always received free overnight shipping which was done by Fedex.

Shoot! I don't mind driving over to FedEx to get my two iPhones!! I'd drive to the next county if need be.

They don't have to necessarily ship it to your billing address. You can request to have it delivered to your work place.

get it shipped to your work, parents or someone else you would trust if you know you wont be there at the time the package comes in.

Apple requires FedEx to obtain a signature upon delivery for iPhones. AT&T gives the buyer a choice upon placing the order. I get a lot of deliveries & greatly prefer FedEx. UPS is not bad, but they never deliver before 8PM I'm my area. I receive FedEx packages before 10am.

Luckily mine is being delivered to me at school, so the post office here will sign for it and then I can pick it up whenever. I am going to be running to and from the post office that day!!!
