Ok guys...

it'll be interesting to see how this works come MWSF.

One of my goals of the guides has been to quickly track/document new products as they are released. Specs, features etc...

So, I am planning on creating guide pages for all the new products announced at MWSF.

I prob will open those edits up to the public. The question will become if there will be a problem with many people editing a topic in a short period of time. also, hopefully the load wont' be a problem.

thoughts?

I like your idea to create a page for each product/announcement.

The main facts of a new product are fairly easy to include in the first version, but its the following days and even weeks where the interesting little notes and observations start coming in.

So i'd suggest a 2 day lock perhaps. In the meantime people can make notes in the talk page.

If any edits are made while someone else is making edits, they'll be alerted when they save their changes, allowing them to merge the changes. It could get messy if a number of people are editing at once, but at worst certain changes won't be made (if people don't want to go to the effort of merging), no changes would be reverted.

I'd make it free-for-all, and if there are too many problems, we can close them off to the public.

arn, would it be worth having a temporary MWSF category for these articles?

I think that would be good. We could eliminate it in a few weeks.
