My 12W Apple charger feels like fast charging on my iPhone 8

I found an old 12W Apple charger I had so I tried it with my iPhone 8 and WOW it feels sooooo much faster!

I don’t feel the need to spend a bunch of cash on the ones Apple has in the store for iPhone 8.

Just thought I’d share my experience.

So much fataer than what?
 
The 12W charger is much faster than the standard 5W charger that comes with the iPhone. I have been using one since the 6S Plus came out.

It’s not even that much bigger IMO. Yes the 5W is very small size but I don’t mind the 12W size

It's definitely somewhat faster and can even charge some older phones like 7 and 6s faster too. It's still not as fast as actual fast charging that 8 and X support, but certainly can be good enough for many.

The 29w only saves like 15 minutes, but at a much more cost. The iPhone 8 and X is only capable of charging at 15w anyway so the 12w would be the best buy

0-80% use the fast charger. If you always fully charge your phone, use the 10/12W iPad charger. Hell, use the 5w charger if you’ll only be doing wireless charging.

Different use case for diff people. That 15 mins saved from charging from 0-80% can be beneficial to someone who’s on a rush ( forgot to charge your phone overnight and need to charge in the morning) After all, time is money.

The Apple 5W Charger is only 1A, so it shouldn’t be used for wireless charging. Every wireless charger I’ve seen specs a 2A Charger like the iPad charger.

I’ve never had true fast charging to compare to, but I almost always charge my phone (currently an 8+) with my iPad Mini charger, which I believe is 10W, and it seems to get powered up pretty fast to me.
 
I have an iPad 12 W USB-A charger. Wow, it charges my current iPhone 6 WAY faster than the 5 W charger that came with my iPhone. And best of all, I don't need to get a dedicated charging cable like you need with a USB-C charger.

I prefer using the 12W iPad charger.

Much simpler and I don’t need to worry about additional cables.

It’s 90% the performance of fast charging at a fraction of the cost.

Been doing it since the iPhone 5s days.

That’s a really good comparison of the different charging methods. I hope they update it now that ‘fast wireless charging’ has been introduced in iOS 11.2 beta 3, so that will be a completely comprehensive comparison.

Something I found most interesting was that all the charging methods topped off the phone the final 30%, from approximately 70-100%, in about 45 minutes. So if you’re the type of person that likes to keep their battery as full as possible throughout the day, to forgo the unexpected that may happen later on, myself included, the 5w or wireless chargers do just as well as the insanity expensive 29w/USB-C combo. This is obviously due to the power management software in the device, but it negates the marketing hype of the faster methods.

I would say it's definitely a lot faster. I also use one of these and it's way faster than the regular one, dont even use that.
