I just checked my 15" MBA's screen and I noticed this on the left side of the screen. I noticed it when I was watching a movie where the beginning starts on a black screen. This isn't normal and now I get to have the fun of taking it to an Apple store and hoping I can find one that doesn't have this issue.

Anyone else in the same or similar boat as me? Better to check your screens now while you're still in the 14 day return exchange period.

Nothing here - all perfect. Thanks for the heads-up!

Looks like a case of "regular" light-bleed; totally a return, good call!

Honestly that looks like typical IPS glow. Likely within spec.

Here you go. Max brightness with a black background. Please ignore the reflection.

I think there are very slight brightening of the four corners but nothing I can really detect at reasonable brightness levels. So close to perfect displays should exist.

Try in a dark room and come back

I did. It's not that much different. The camera is unable to capture the display properly due to the massive difference in contrast, but it looks more uniform than the photo.

P.S.: bonus vs MBP 14. The XDR display is much better in the dark, of course. Not that anyone would even want to go into complete darkness with the screen at 500 nits on both but if someone absolutely has to, the XDR display is better for that. It's not exactly entirely dark due to the image I used (a JPG) but it's close enough to being entirely off.
