I'm reading all these threads; if someone was looking to buy a 16" MacBook Pro, they'd think this release is a lemon.

I have no ghosting, no speaker popping, no coil whine, no button cover creaking, no fans being weird, no performance problems, nothing wrong my screen, my hinge doesn't wobble.

I'm not denying people may have problems, but many people have computers that are just working fine.

You are the 1 out of 100, creating a forum post saying everything is fine with your device. As a lover of anti-bias: Thank you!

I am sure you have speaker popping since it’s a global software issue 😉 As to the rest, it’s like always, really - people use the forum as a venting outlet.

Mine is also basically perfect. I had to really go out of my way to try and replicate the speaker popping, but I do have that, unsurprisingly.

Talk about stating the obvious...

I think it’s absolutely worth pointing this out. I’ve heard people even on other sites talking about how the 16” is somehow defective because of issues discussed here.

Are you 100% sure of it? I implore you to look closer and pay more attention. There has to be something wrong, somewhere, you just haven't found it yet. You can't possibly have received a notebook with no flaw, known or unknown. Apple just does not make good computers anymore.

It is refreshing to read about a normal everyday experience with hardware on this forum. May your notebook and you stay blessed.

The people that post here are 0.05% of users. Forums like this just highlight problems really. Again i'm not denying any problems it just people don't generally come here to praise - instead to find solutions to problems. For the record, my MBP 16" is perfect too.

It actually could be even less than 0.05%.

I keep holding off my purchase reading stuff on here, glad to see speaker popping is/has been addressed.

ghosting and coil wine is the main thing though as I’m sensitive to both as I’ve had a few TVs that have done this sent back!

hopefully can purchase soon as the 2012 is looking a tad old

He has every right to state the obvious, as does everyone else on this forum, including you. That's pretty much what it's here for, right?

Believe it or not, stating the obvious is of little value to any forum. Sky is blue, today is Monday, Trump is POTUS...

It seems people get hurt that there are criticism/complaints by people on products they have bought. I bought the new 16" and I am unoffended by people having issues, it is expected and should be discussed as with any other product on any other forum - but at no point did I feel that suddenly, I need to post to let people know mine is fine. If everyone made a thread to state their product is fine, this forum would very quickly derail into uselessness no?

There definitely seems to be a negative vibe regarding the 2019 MBP, though I still hold to my opinion that its the best MBP from the 2016 model line. In a sense, this should have been what apple released in 2016, nonetheless, I think overall its a fine laptop. Its not without issues, but it does seem like a feeding frenzy.

@alphaod Thanks for the post. It really does help knowing that the issues mentioned on the form are not the norm, especially, for potential buyers looking for some guidance. But I am curious how you aren't affected by the speaker pop since this was determined to be a software issue.

Me either. Well, the ghosting, but that's a non-issue in my opinion. Every MBP I've had ghosts. These screens don't have super high response rates seemingly. It has never been an issue for me. I only notice it if I'm looking for it. My son has a 2012 15" MBP and we did some side by side tests and the ghosting is almost exactly the same. I checked it against my 2015 iMac—the same. We checked it against his girlfriend's 2019 13" MBP—the same result. The 16" doesn't seem to ghost any more or less than previous or other contemporary models, at least based on the three comparisons I've made.

Others say it's not as bright. If I turn my brightness all the way up and it's not very bright in the room, it tries to burn my retina. I typically have to take it down a bar or two to feel comfy.

My laptop is the quietest machine I have ever owned. I have yet to even get the fans to come on since it initially was setting itself up, and then they only came on briefly. I hear no whine.

I think the popping is a real thing. I haven't heard it, but it's been documented now.

And some lemons do appear in the supply chain. I got a bad 2018 15" MBP last year. I bought it, took it home, only to find that the trackpad haptic engine was sporadic. When I bought the 2012 model back in 2012 I got one with a crappy screen showing several dead pixels. The next one was perfect (has two dead pixels on it now though, which is the one my son owns now).

I'm honestly not sure what to think about all the negative posts here regarding the 16". Except I recall that every single new machine introduced by Apple has had many negative threads started about it here. Some I have found to be true, but many others I haven't been able to line up with reality.

Agreed - this is what should have come out in 2016.

Glad your machine is perfect OP, so is mine.

The problem is that the people who are having issues are telling the people who don't have them that they absolutely do have them and just can't identify them, in a condescending manner.

I've been told point blank that I have coil whine and just can't hear it. Nevermind that my hearing is perfect and I set up the computer in a house so silent I could hear the seconds tick by on a clock in an adjacent room. I've scrolled the Music library, I've installed the OS, I've backed up the machine, I've written to the SSD, I've done everything, and the computer is silent, so nobody needs to tell me my machine is a coil whining POS when it isn't.

Definitely. I find my 16" better than the supposed "best notebook" the 2015 15". The fans make noise less often than the 2105, the keyboard and screen are better, and this thing greatly outperforms that system.

I'm a "Prosumer". Sitting here listening to Andrea Bocelli on a CD loaded into Music while reading the news on my NY Times App, I'm in heaven. I love this computer. Only issue on mine is the popping which doesn't happen in Music.

I have had absolutely zero issues with my 16”. It’s the best laptop Apple has ever made in my humble opinion. Coming from the 2015, which I never thought I’d give up, this has been a perfect machine for me.

If I were worried about problems, I'd check out the demos in the stores. If they have the same problems, I'd be concerned and just wait.

I was being told the same thing. “You have coil whine, you just aren’t hearing it.” Really? I have excellent hearing and can hear the external HD from my iMac spinning from 10 ft away. I think I would be able to hear the coil whine of my SSD in a completely silent room literally sitting on my lap. I’ve done all of these little tests that these guys want you to do and the SSD has remained silent.

Same with the ghosting. “You have ghosting, you just don’t see it.“ Really? I see absolutely no difference in my 5K iMac than the 16”. I would notice this if it was a problem. I see absolutely no problem, so guess what, there is no problem for me.
