Has anyone else noticed the fowl smell coming from the new MacBook Pro? Im not even exaggerating, when I unboxed my new Pro-Touch about an hour ago it had and continues to have a super strong fowl odor, the best way I can describe the smell is like an old dirty wet basement smell. And it hits you hard too, its not like a minimal odor. Another weird thing I noticed is my power brick was like drenched is some oily substance. Anyway, I'm not complaining, just curious if anyone else noticed any of these things?

Don't recall that odor, but there is a (now closed) thread from this week about the "new Mac smell."

Your power brick being "drenched is some oily substance" sounds dodgy, I'd take it back personally!

Seriously? Your new out of the box MacBook Pro has a dirty wet basement smell and the power brick is drenched in some oily substance and your not complaining. To answer your question, no, mine came with no unusual smell.

My power cable has a foul odor. I think this, not the macbook, is the source of the odor.

I was actually bummed when I opened mine and stuck my nose in the box to find this was the least most smelly apple product I have ever purchased. Odd as it sounds I love the smell of new Apple products, seems to be one consistently from what I can smell. But this machine virtually nothing.

There is however the possibility that I getting hard of smelling as I age and I am just missing out now. Personally I'd take it back something sounds like it went wrong.

Not normal, OP. Take it in to an Apple Store and have it checked out.
By comparison, mine came with no offending orders, oily substances, moss, or insects.

[doublepost=1544474373][/doublepost]They cannot use lead to make cables flexible anymore, and Chinese mfgers use just about anything they can get, and many smell terrible.
