is that my fault to have bad Qc stuffs from apple?
you never exchange anything coz of screen or cosmetic problems?
I saw tons of posts about having lg panels and they exchange for few times because they want a samsung screen!!

I understand were you are coming from. I own a 2011 MBA it was perfect out of the box and I checked for cosmetic problems. If it had problems I would return it but not 5 times. That is a bit excessive. I understand you dont want any problems with your machines you pay almost $2000 for. I would suggest returning the MBA and waiting a month or 2 to buy another one. This is the first batch they will fix the problems after a month or 2.

For another thing I think you are looking for problems with your new machines. Apple has Great QC yes there are defects in any product, nothing is ever perfect.

Please just take back your MBA and Get your money back or stick with the next one you get, this is outrageous. Please Just Stop.

I used to be like the OP, nitpicking every little fault. Nowadays I accept a certain amount of imperfection, because otherwise one wouldn't be able to live a normal life. I also accept that it's a mass produced item, hand assembled at high speed.

My iPad has a creaky bit of top glass, but it's at a place where I hardly touch it. My Dell screen some minor light leaks. MacBook a few scratches out of the box. Watch screws show a little damage. My old iBook had a couple of bright pixels. Keyboard has a teensy scuff.

Yes, perfection would be great, but I'm convinced getting a perfect product from any manufacturer is more about luck than anything else.

Try a different store for an exchange? Maybe all of those boxes from the same store were mishandled.. You definately shouldn't be having warped screens like described.. I had a 2013 11" and a 2013 13" and both had flawless body construction.. The 11" did have some annoying backlight bleed though (LG panel) but the 13" is nearly perfect, just some bright corners on the bottom left and right but not really noticeable.

This guy must be trolling. Even if its for real, most guys will move on to something else after exchanged 5 units. This guy is a joke!!!

If you can't stand one tiny scratch or nick on your laptop, you should go see a Dr first. Soon or later your laptop is going to have scratch or nick. The best way to get the most money out of your MBA is to use the hell of it, not admire it.

This is good advice.. When the iPad3 first came out.. I was in line to buy it.. My first one had stuck pixels, yellow tinted screen.. all of those issues people were screaming about. . I returned it.. and the next one, same deal.. We opened 3 units IN STORE (thankfully Apple store reps were cool about doing this, they just wanted me to be happy) and every single unit had an issue with stuck/dead pixels so I just picked the one with the whitest screen and went home.

Later I sold it off and decided to give it another try and the few month older iPad3 had a perfect screen with uniform, white color.. It just felt like Apple produced a better product after the initial "rush". Could be that Apple factories are rushing to make a deadline for launch and later they are more relaxed and will QC their products better.

I know that if the MBA was that much of a POS i'd go buy the new Sony Vaio Duo 13" because it's a pretty retardedly awesome machine :p With a screen I guarantee is better than the MBA (being IPS and 1080p).

But the form and function is too hard to beat so another year to the MBA for me. Maybe Sony will win me over next year, they almost had me this time.

You should really rethink your purchase. Are you looking for a notebook, which is a tool to get work done, or are you looking for some kind of fetish. If it's the latter, I'm afraid that there's no man-made consumer notebook on the market that'll make you happy. They all have 'flaws' like these.

Honestly, I'd take the 2000$ and spend them on a therapy.

i used iPhone 5 also.
I bet you dun know much about camera. try using your iphone to take a pic with all black screen before you say that
and take one more only for aluminium body of your mac and see
You bet I dun know? Dun?
Look, the iPhone 5 can absolutely take a better pic of a back screen. You and I both know. The best thing you could do is find the worst possible picture you took and post it, which is what you did.
People in this thread are crazy. Its like a 80's soap opera.....I love it!
The site is mostly a soap opera.
I'm picky too. If it was me, I would skip the first month or so. I disagree that QA used to be better. Show me one older Apple display without that stupid purple edge problem, then maybe I'll believe it. Also I totally understand about backlight bleed. The design is just going to have some, but it's much less irritating if it's even. I don't know about the 2012s, but the 2011 mbp would get uneven dark portions around the bottom due to the location of certain vents.

I think it is clear that there are people here that haven't been with Apple long enough to know that QA used to be better.

OP, you need to return the laptop and buy something else. Again, if I were the manager of the store you continue to return to, I would flag your account for excessive and unnecessary returns.

OP, just return the computer and forget about it.

If you weren't satisfied with the last 5, there's very little chance the 6th is going to be any different. If you keep exchanging you'll just get more and more frustrated (I can see from the post above that you are already really riled up already). The MBA clearly isn't what you expected, so it's time to move on.

Regardless of what side of the fence you're on - it's Apple's fault and QA is in the toilet, OR this guy is too OCD - one thing is clear: if after five returns you're not satisfied, then it's highly unlikely that you'll be satisfied after 6, or 10, or 20.

Whose fault that may be is surely up for debate, but pinning fault doesn't change the outcome.

Regardless of what product you're buying or who you're buying it from, five exchanges is a pretty good point to stop and make a choice: either you get a refund and take your money to a manufacturer that meets your expectations and produces something you find fully satisfying, or you accept exchange #5 for all its flaws and imperfections and just cope with the idea that this is as good as it's going to get. It's statistically unlikely that any one person is going to return an item 5 or more times and that #6/10/20/100 will just magically be the one that's perfect. More likely is the idea that the QA level, regardless or your expectations, is going to be consistent across all of them.

And if there is NO other manufacturer of the product out there that meets your expectations, then that kinda speaks for itself.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Hi guys. I have exchanged 5 units already. And still having problems with my new air.
QC is really really bad. I paid so much money for that Coz its the top model of 13" air i7 8gb ram 512ssd. I expected a 99.99% perfect machine. But after what i've been through, I m just tired of this lottery game. Just wanna get some opinions from you guys if i should take it back again.
Thz a lot!

1: Nicks at the bottom corner, Magic mirror screen, light leakage at the bottom but evenly!

2: Apple logo was bent, Magic mirror screen, light leakage at the bottom but evenly!

3: dead pixel, Magic mirror screen, light leakage at the bottom but evenly

4: Scratches next to trackpad and next to the hinge, Magic mirror screen, light leakage at the bottom but evenly

5: Everything seems to be fine but light leakage at the bottom. Specially left bottom

I totally understand where you're coming from. Spending so much money, you might as well get what you expected. If not, then complain. Apples a very wealthy company, they can afford it. Trust me, you're supporting their company, you should get what you expected spending top dollar.

really if you have such a skill.
prove it with your iPhone!
Maybe you are a pro photographer.
Moving your lips cant get you nice photo tho!

go and apply for manager pos and flag my account please!!!!
Someone like you . I bet they wont even bother to look at your cv!

Get a refund. Clearly Apple does not meet your extraordinarily high quality standards, and frankly I don't think any other brand will.

No, you aren't paying to 'get what you expect', you are paying to get the product as advertised. Apple is free to offer exchanges or returns if you have a fault or dissatisfaction with your purchase. They are under zero obligation to 'give you what you expect', especially if you have expectations they are unable or unwilling to meet.

Also, what's the magic amount of dollars where you get to demand things?

thx iSEE, Scaredpoet, imjoee and all others for the nice opinions!!
You guys been really helpful and understanding.
unlike someone just talk crap!
I think i should just get the refund and wait for a bit.

Thank you!

You know distorting mirror? when you look at the screen your face look twist.
the light leakage on previous 4 look good coz its evenly spread.
But this one its actually more light leak on the left bottom.

yea man. Apple QC used to be real good.
but now its awful.:(

Well, seems to me they are sending you other "fixed"macbook air and not new one

You are aware all the people you're thanking for being 'helpful and understanding' are telling other users you're crazy and just to ignore you, right?

Yeah, you're definitely insane.

Pebcak

Friend of mine is an ex-IT guy for a school district. He often referred to an
issue as a PEBCAK: Problem Exists Between Chair and Keyboard.

This may be one of those PEBCAKs.

I actually heard that one before from an IT woman. I thought it was her that'd made it up! Nevertheless, the notion applies.

I know i m picky coz i expect a better machine since it cost nearly $2000.
But the magic mirror thing annoys me when i m working in a bright environment. coz i see myself twisting all the time. I can't see any other brands has this kinda screen problems. and they are a lot cheaper

I think you should return this, get another one and don't look for flaws on it. You'll enjoy the crap out of that computer, ill guarantee it. :)

Hmmm...

I can understand wanting to return an expensive computer you're not happy with, but can some please explain light leakage to me?

Specifically, why it's a problem? If you can only see it when the screen is black, what's the issue? How often do people use their laptops with the monitor black?

Keep returning them until you get one that meets your expectations, you're stocking the refurb store for the rest of us
