So the other day I (yes me) bent my iPhone 6+ Without it bending itself! I was off roading when I hit a ditch and the phone bounced from a cubby hole in the dash board and got trapped between my knee and dashboard.

The phone bent around the SIM card slot to a very noticable degree but it took a big impact to the point I thought the screen would have shattered which it didn't. At this point I had 3 options:1 was to storm onto the Internet and slag Apple off to my hearts content, but I'm that kind of person.
2 was to run straight to the apple shop and demand a replacement which would never happen as it was my fault.
And finally 3 was to bend it back myself, which I did and it is now as good as new!!

Basically what I am trying to say from that load of rubbish above is these phones don't just bend themselves! And by what I've read from some of the posts on this forum the past few weeks is that people really need to start taking responsibility for their actions before jumping the gun and blaming the product.

Also for the record I am in no way an apple fanboy, the last iphone I owned was a 3G, in between that and the 6+ all my phones were android

Rubbish. I don't see any reports of older gen iPhones or other phablets bending. My Nexus 5 isn't bent and ive accidentally bumped it many times. A phone should not bend with such ease, the 6+ has a design flaw, deal with it.

Iphone 5
HTC One M8
Sony Experias
The list goes on and on and on!

This sums things up.

The OP merely informs us that he knows how his phone got bent. We all know that the phones don't bend themselves, it obviously requires some kind of force to bend it. The point is that many people don't know how their phone became bent because they've simply been using the phone like every other cell phone they've owned .... and those other phones didn't bend.

That suggests either a design or manufacturing flaw.

Let me ask you guys something. Do you honestly believe that there are thousands of bent phones out there where people are not doing anything about it? These phones are expensive. bendgate, the stupid name that it is, has been all over the news and everybody knows about it. If thousands or millions of phones are bent due to normal usage, we would know about it.

Even my mom was freaking out when I ordered my new phone. "I heard they bend!!!!!" EVERYBODY knows about the story, so if there are a million bent phones out there, why haven't they spoken up?

If somebody spends close to $1,000 for the best iPhone and it is bent, you better be sure they should speak up. So why haven't they? Other than this site, why haven't I seen any more reports on the major sites?

I fully agree that people are not using their 6+ right. Not everyone, but some people might. The normal 6 is barely small enough to fit in my pockets, I cannot imagine what some people might to in order to get their 6+ to fit.

I would say only Apple knows how many phones have been returned for this issue. We can only speculate based on the sampling at MacRumors, social media, Reddit, etc. But since iPhones appeal to such a wide audience, I wouldn't expect everyone with the issue to "speak up" on a social forum. Would your mom take it to social media? Likely not, she would just take the phone back and return it. Or if she is not reading a forum about Apple products every day, she might not even notice it.

I won't even comment on the part about using the phone "right" ;)

Yeah almost like crashing it into a tree due to ones own negligence and then blaming the car for a defect! As previously stated if Apple had said it could take 'x' amount of force being applied before damage being present then yes there would be a defect. However no such figure has ever been promised or mentioned.

People are just annoyed as the expect the phone to be much stronger and there own negligence towards the phone is causing the damage! It won't bend itself as said God knows how many times already.

Again, you're not making the point you think you are. Just because you bent your phone in an accident and/or being careless doesn't mean everyone with a bent phone did so under the same conditions. In fact, we're all dumber having read it.

If you're argument is that it's okay if these phones bend under pressure because Apple never said you could expect to carry it in your pocket then I think most people will disagree. If you manufacture a cell phone that has a tendency to deform under normal carrying conditions then most people will agree that's it's defective.

Back to your terrible analogy though, just because I'm driving my car down the road and I run into a lane divider at 60 MPH and a wheel flies off doesn't mean there can't be a defect effecting others who might have a wheel fall off when they hit a pothole at 2 mph. You seem to think if x can cause y, then all y's are caused by x. I have to wonder, do you still believe that if you cover your eyes other people can't see you?

What about bent 5 series phones? There have been reports of bent 5 series iPhones.

So, it's okay to universalize opinions you agree with but not okay to universalize opinions you don't agree with?
