This feature was the main feature why I decided to upgrade from my 13 Pro Max and it doesn't work right. I noticed several times last night my always on feature wasn't on. I would have to tap the screen to get it to show the display. It would stay on for a while but then it would turn off again. I did a full master reset and the phone does the same thing.

Anyone else having this issue? I will return the phone if I can't figure it out because I can say with 100% certainty this phone isn't worth coming from a 13 Pro Max.

Thank you. Apparently the "turns off if it hasn't been used in a while" might be my issue. Nonetheless, that's a stupid feature I can't live with. I like to be able to look at the phone on my night stand w/o having to touch it to see the time and any notifications. What good does this always on feature do me when I have to touch the screen in the middle of the night because I haven't used the phone in a while.

Back it goes to Apple.....

If you have sleep focus on, your AOD will be off. That's what I experienced last night and I recall reading up on that.

I’m sorry, I find it 100% ridiculous that the AOD turns off when you haven’t ‘used your phone in a while’. That defeats completely the purpose of an AOD.

Sure, turn off when flipped, or in a pocket or bag. I even understand turning off when on low power mode. But just because you haven’t used your phone in a while? Nope, not on board with that.

At the very least that needs to be a user-defined toggle setting.

Yup, I found out about overnight. I wanted to use my 14PM as a clock/alarm but AOD was off basically had to tap it like my older phone.

Exactly. This was the only reason I upgraded from my 13 PM. Who the hell wants to tap their 14 Pro to wake it up so the time is shown when someone randomly wakes up to see the time? I've been doing that with my 13 PM for a year.

This IMO is a huge FAIL for Apple. Don't freaking advertise something that's "always on" when it really isn't.

Well who knows what Apple defines as "hasn't been used in a while". That's not for them to decide. Always on should mean just that, always on!

LOL.. really? I could care less when asleep.. this is part of the apple first world problem issue, everyone wants everything to be perfect! Just enjoy the phone😁

I just want to get what Apple has advertised on one of their products.

What was I thinking????
Luckily this sort of thing could easily be remedied with a software update

Everyone who wants more AOD options should submit bug reports!

It is a first world privilege to be able to lecture others on complaining about first world problems.

And it is the attitude that always demands more and better that is a significant factor in propelling a society to become "first world" in the first place.
