HDMi cable corroded, i was freaked out and had to test the hdmi port with an apple tv 2 to make sure it didn't fry my tv. it didn't

the xbox 360 videogame boxes i had underneath the apple tv were/are drenched, almost like the battery exploded inside or something.

i couldn't figure out what it was, thought maybe water but it smelt kinda funky. and no drip from my ceiling or liquids anywhere nearby.

its long out of warranty and never got apple care but i don't think its unreasonable to expect a new one and an hdmi cable at minimum. the thing felt like it was on fire, it was EXTREMELY hot.

geez!

i was just watching tv with it yesterday too

i didn't think so either.

man i really wish i could understand this. would call them but no way I'm paying $29 to talk to a tech for something that should never ever have happened.

i'll be curious what the apple store has to say

so because it was corroded i was limited to out of warranty $50 replacement

held off since a new atv is due next month and atv3 is not jb'able still.

no idea how it got wet, but it did apparently.
