Hey what do you know my Verizon iPhone 5 can use AT&T sims and get 4g HSPA+!

Straight out of the box, what do ya know.

But doesn't the iPhone 5 use nano sim? Did you buy an AT&T iPhone 5 with a nano sim to put into then Verizon? Sorry a little confused

I got unlocked for my 5 and locked for my 4s on that website. iphoneox.com says unknown and locked respectively. I stopped by t-mobile on my way home and picked up a sim card (they gave it to me for free). They said I would need a $10 activation kit to try it but I didn't think that was worth it, and thought I would see what would happen without it.

I put the microsim in my 4s. It began walking me through activation steps until I got "SIM Not Valid" and instructions to only use a supported carrier's SIM.

I trimmed it down to nano size and popped it in the 5. I got the same message.

:(

It could just be because I didn't activate it for $10, so this isn't conclusive by any means, I was just experimenting.

No, the activation of the sim card shouldnt have anything to do with it. It should still pickup the network. I picked up 2 sims cards from T mobile awhile back for testing purposes and never bothered to call the number and activate them. After having my 4S unlocked I was able to cut one down and use it in the 4S to test. Sure enough it showed the Tmobile network.

No, all you have to do is cut it to size using scissors and the current sim as a guide (careful not to cut the original) and plop it into the sim card slot and it just works.

It didn't pick up the network, because the phone was locked to AT&T.

Via the magic of an Ebay purchase, I unlocked my iPhone 5. My T-Mobile SIM now works in the phone, and instead of the error, it directs me to calling "Voicemail" which is a voice activated system for activating the prepaid service.

So that confirms that the subsidy phones are actually locked to AT&T despite what that website checker is saying.

After you unlocked it via eBay, did it show the congratulations message after the phones first bootup from a restore?

Applenberry sent me an email saying they offer imei unlock on any iPhone including i5 for 50 bucks. I don't know how they do it..

Nice yeah doing a restore and getting the congratulations screen is the final way to confirm unlock. If it goes through, eBay link?

Damn - seems to be the most detailed IMEI lookup though :p

I'm waiting for my unlock to process and I hate having to keep restoring to check, oh well..

Thanks for checking!

If you used unlockfusion, you can check the status on their site, or wait for the email. No need for repeated restores.

Took 1 hour 31 minutes for me.

what is procedure..could you describe (I just ordered mine and submitted IEMI number), not sure what is going to happen next.

Once you submit the IMEI on their website, you just wait. When the unlock is finished, they will send you an email telling you that it is complete. At that point you can restore and get the congrats screen, but I don't think that part is necessary, it is only proof for you that it worked.

Doing simple restore now (phone is activated and AT&T working sim in the tray). Hope it works as described!!! That would be awesome.

try www.imei.info as well. can't find my imei now but does give me info on my 4S saying it is unlocked. i got AT&T to unlock it when they first started doing iPhone unlocks

It took like 15 minutes since I send him the money with paypal and he responded.
It said that its unlocked but I dont feel like restoring now.
And most imei check sites are down or showing inacurate info.
But since the seller is reputable and unlocked tons of iphones Im not really worried.

umm, ok - so no 'congratulations...' message. http://s-url.ro/ still shows phone as locked :( did I just blow 18$ for nothing???

Did you get the email saying its unlocked?
I did too but that site seems to be down now.
I dont feel like doing a restore now, wanna do it for me and let me know if yours got the congrats message?
