My ATV1 just died....

Front light is blinking orange.

Tried unplugging it, waiting, and then plugging it back in -- no luck.

Anything else I can try? I read through many different support threads, but they all seem to start with the unit already turned on.

I did come across someone on eBay selling an ATV1 USB boot restore stick -- is this real?

Otherwise, I'm looking at getting a Mac Mini or an ATV3 as a replacement.

Hard drive probably dead or corrupt. If you can get it out and mount it on a Mac, you might be able to repair it with disk utility.

If not, some guys on eBay sell replacement drives loaded with the software. I "upgraded" to 320gb internally that way. Worked great. Of course you can buy a third gen for less cost too.
