I'm sitting very happily typing this on my amazing 13" MBP. It's a beautiful machine, and I love it. I hope to get a fair bit of time for its usage.

But, I know I'll have to update it eventually, but I'm waiting for some special things. Whenever things come out, be it tomorrow or two years, I'll buy it then and there. These would make it my dream laptop, and without these, however amazing it is, it will never be my dream. Cost isn't that big of a deal for me, so keep that in mind. I think these are reasonable.

    - 13" - 3.5lbs
    - 1440x900 screen (16:10)
    - OLED
    - No optical drive
    - USB 3.0
    - At least 512MB discrete/dedicated graphics
    - Firewire 800
    - 0.8" thin
    - 10 hours battery life
    - Thinner bezel
    - No black bezel
    - Easier to open hinge
    - Possibly a 2nd HDD bay (this is already possible with a bit of extra room - possibly for discrete GPU - if you take out the optical drive)
    - Backlit keyboard
    - 2GHz Quad Core or 3GHz Dual Core

That sounds like a long list, but really, it's rather reasonable. Nothing crazy. The HP Envy accomplished a discrete GPU in a 13" laptop by removing the optical drive. That is a massive computer part considering how rarely most of us use it. I use it a couple times a year, all of which I'm at a desk anyway, I might as well use an external. With the extra space I could throw in at the very least another HDD bay but probably another GPU as well.

Introduce these and I'd buy it tomorrow. :p

    Any suggestions guys? Add ons?

you should just buy a sony vaio z and max it out.. I'm actually thinking about doing that because I'm sick of waiting for a 13 mbp with anti glare

Yes, that's exactly what I want.. the specs are fine for me on the 13", I just really need a matte screen and wont buy one until they make it. It would also be nice if apple started using amd/ati or atleast ati graphics but that's not something I'm going to wait for.. I'll just jump for joy when it happens

Until OLED's are a little more stable and last longer, I'm all set with them.

Drop the hardware keyboard, and the Intel chip for ARM and you might have some sort of a shoe in for a tablet.

Every MBP is always my dream MBP in every way but one:

    Graphics.

The day Apple ship decent GPUs in their MBPs is the day they ship the perfect laptop as far as I'm concerned.

I know this is a "dream" thread but I'll keep mine limited to what's currently available.

15.4" 1680x1050 RGB LED Display with matte standard (or as no cost option)
    Core i7 820qm or better
    3 SODIMM slots
    Radeon 4830m
No combined audio in/out jack nonsense like with the MBs
    Express Card 54 (34 acceptable)
    3 USB ports + 1 USB/E-SATA
    FW800
Trackpad with a real button like the MBA
DVI or Mini DP with INCLUDED adapter
Unibody enclosure with no black rubber trim around the matte version bezel
2 x HDD/SSD bay with INCLUDED external optical drive (not so important)
