My External USB HD won't connect

How do I force OS X to look to see if there are any drives (like external drives) that it can connect to?

It's connected to my computer via USB 2.0. I've tried restarting 5 times. Nothing helps. *angry*

WTF. I've had this drive for like 2 days and it's already crapped out?

Open disk utility

Make sure that it is turned on

It doesn't even show up in Disk Utility.

And it's turned on. lol

Have you tried:

another usb cable you can try
another usb port on computer to try
another computer to try the drive with
power off the drive then back on

Guess I held my tongue just right.

Before I read your post, I tried opening the external enclosure up to see if anything was loose. Nothing was...

Then I plugged the cable back in and then the power and it worked.



Why it was messed up we may never know.
