My first iMac MB950LL

I'm getting an iMac (MB950LL, mid-2011 model, I believe) for the first time, after having my G4 MDD since 2003 (under Mac OS 10.4). As a new iMac user and I have never use 10.5 or 10.6 before, what am I anticipating from this new system (beside faster speed and the likes)? I would appreciate the pros and cons from any of you who has/had a similar system.

My primary reason is that Mac OS 10.7 does not support any PowerPC apps and I'm not ready to upgrade my PPC apps yet. I use my current Mac for Internet browsing, 3D, photo-editing, illustration, and desktop publication contents.

Your 2011 iMac will come installed with 10.7. You are not going to directly be able to load 10.6 on the machine. In order to do so you will need another Mac which runs 10.6, boot the 2011 iMac into target disk mode and then load 10.6 on the 2011 iMac from the other machine running 10.6. Also, you will need to buy a another copy of 10.6 to install on your 2011 iMac. There were some 2011 iMacs which came with 10.6 installed on them, mine being one.

I got mine installed with 10.6 and it was never installed with 10.7. The seller (MicroCenter) said it is a 2010 model that has been sold only once and returned to the seller after a brief time, left unused and unsold for quite a time.

It is iMac 10,1 Intel Core 2 Duo (3.06 Ghz).

Your machine is late 2009. model if it is 3.06 C2D,the machine was probably bought in 2010 but it is not a 2010 model.
