On tuesday i purchased the brand new mac book. I have used macs before and i understand a lot about them. i just wanted a few pointers on the most efficient way of setting it up and how to make it run the best. i was also curious about just little things that most first time mac users might not know about. just the cool little extras that come along with owning a mac is what i'm getting at. thanks.

Hey, welcome.

There isn't too much to tweak out of the box. Go through each pane in your System Preferences to customize your personal experience. It's not like XP though where you'll want to disable a bunch of the core services or startup items - the default install is pretty smooth, and customized to your hardware to boot.

check out This thread and you might find some info you like. I put together that thread for new mac owners, to answer basic questions that seem to pop up repeatedly in these forums.
