The maximum frequency is also 3.4 instead of 3.3, so it's still only 100mhz more.
I don't get it about the 256mb memory, you mean the 2.2 processor will only use 256mb memory of the ati card ?

But i don't think anyway the 100mhz gonna change anything in my workflow (render) vs save money for future upgrade.

I heard i need to install bootcamp driver when windows is installed (in windows it self) is that right ?

Im often in Metro/Bus, so a SSD is "critical boost". (open computer, shutdown, open soft etc..)

They're wrong there. The 2.0 GHz 15-inch comes with the 6490M, which is the 256MB card. Both the 2.2 and 2.3 GHz 15-inch models are equipped with the 6750M. You'll get all 1GB of VRAM with the 2.2 GHz machine.

You can knock down the price a little and still have the same quality.

Optibay: You can get knock off SATA Optibay's on eBay for about $20.

Video Adapters: You can get the Mini Displayport to DVI, VGA and HDMI adapters from Monoprice.com for about $10 a piece. FX4568 mentioned Amazon which looks even better.

There are also several items I did not see listed.

Data Backup: Given this is your work computer and I assume the data is important for how much you are spending you should consider a backup hard drive. Actually you should get two and rotate them out weekly or monthly so that one is always secured in a bolted down fire/water resistant safe.

Air and Auto adapters: You may need an airline Magsafe adapter if you need this laptop for business travel. If you need this on the road often I would consider a car adapter.

Security Lock
: At $4000 I would also strongly consider a few security locks, however many you need for the number of places you frequently leave it unattended.

Screen: I noticed that you chose the high res which is good. However since you are doing professional media work I would buy the Anti-Glare Hi Res option.

Windows 7 Professional/Ultimate: Since this is a work computer Windows 7 Home Premium may not be sufficient for network access. If your work is using a server then the network is likely using a domain rather than a workgroup. You will need Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate to connect to a domain. They also work better with Macs as it has the Group Policy Editor (some tweaks are needed for reliable Mac file sharing). You can also connect to protected shared folders since you can log in under alternate credentials.

Edit: Given the base price is around $4000 don't nickle and dime the little stuff. If you can afford $4000 then 10% either way should not break the bank. Many of these things I mentioned will be a lifesaver in protecting your valuable data and equipment plus make it usable in a wider variety of environments.

monoprice...

For the bag, indeed the booq are my favorit at moment, was thinking to buy the viper, i have a store near by, so ll take a look first !

Thank you

Have you given any thought to hard cases? I want to buy a 17 MacBook Pro this summer, and I am considering the Mezzi Gold, or Silver hard case, at Mezzi.com
I just transitioned all my Video and Camera equipment, and accessories over to hard cases (aluminum). Wish I would of done it sooner. Also Mezzi is in Canada.

The computer is $2000. It's your choice to add on all those extra accessories.

- Oh and btw, all usb 3.0 are useless on mac ? it's going to use the 2.0 right ?
.

well if u went for the 17" MBP lacie do usb3 expresscard34 with custom lacie driver bringin usb3 to the mac- altho i have heard that their has been some issue with regards to this.. plus it only works with usb3 lacie drivs, like the rikki

also i have heard of anecdotal accounts of the lindsy usb3 expresscard with the lacie driver

seagate are bringing out a thunderport adaper for their goflex drives

Why are you even considering a mac?

Get a fully decked out PC equivalent. Take the savings and buy a house.

lmao.. i could quite happile live in a tent, with my mac rather than a flat with a pc....

Apple 26.2 --> Stuff you buy for 2011 are reported for at the begining of 2012 tax. And anyways, my taxes for 2010 are already done.

Thx velocity for all those reminder ! indeed it can be lifesaver !
I just saw the lock from kingstone at apple store for 45$ when it's 18$ on amazon... geez

JBmac --> I'm not a fan of hardcase, actualy i was trying to find a alternative bag for bike too, somekind of mix backpack...

2Turbo --> Because i don't want to spend to connect/disconnect the power every time (when i go out), very useful when you got a table where u put youre laptop all the time. I would the same thing if it was a pc laptop.

vincenz --> The laptop cost 2250 with no option

MaxxTraxx --> Of course it is ! It's the same laptop since 3-4 years i think ;)

I made my choice (when i was in the apple store) for the screen, going to be the matte screen, even if i realy hate the grey bezel.

Well i receive it !
Took 3 day.

I like the feeling, i'm happy, now waiting for all other upgrade !

I wouldn't go with the OEM version of Windows 7. If you ever need to reinstall it, you are screwed, among other things. Purchase at your own risk.

Not true at all. You get one Key that can be used on one PC. If you have a HDD failure, etc, you can contact Microsoft for a new key.

I don't agree that these is only a negligible difference. With the 2.3GHz 15" you get a higher performing ATI graphics subsystem full 1GB Video RAM instead of only 256MB.

While the nominal CPU clock is only 100MHz higher, the difference in i7 Turbo Boost is more significant for the maximum frequency. Normal users don't need the highest CPU frequency, so you get a bigger performance bump investiong in an SSD instead of HDD.

You get the same 6750M with 1GB of video memory with both the 2.2 and 2.3.

The turbo boost for the 2.2 is a max of 3.3 GHz and for the 2.3 is a max of 3.4 GHz.

The "increase" in performance is not worth the extra US$250.00.

You won't get USB 3.0 speeds using this. Expresscard can only provide 2.5 Gbps bandwidth while USB 3.0 provides 5.0 Gbps bandwidth.

You get an extra 2mb of cache with the 2.3 option as well.

6mb with the 2.2

8mb with the 2.3

Dropping over 3 grand on a 15/17 is very easy. If you need processor power, get the 2.3 as it is a beast.
