Well, I said, what the heck and went ahead and bought a Gigabyte GTX780 Windforce3 OverClock GPU. This one:

    http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4673#ov

The GTX700 series has a new feature, the Base/Boost clock rate is determined by the temp of the card. When the card gets hot, it clocks itself down. The OC model that I have has a base clock of 954 MHz and a Boost clock of 1006 MHz. This bests the standard GTX780 that has clocks of 863/900 respectively.

The cooler is, IMHO, a work of art, containing copper heat pipes, and the design, IMHO, is the best of the current breed of graphics cards:

My card was modified by the impresario of Mac Graphic Cards - MacVidCards. This is the second card he has done for me. Both were 3 fan Gigabyte models. The Boot Screen shows up, as it should, just like a real authorized Macintosh Card, except it's much faster than anything Macintosh offers. The Mac community is indeed lucky to have the talents of this guy, and Netkas, available to us.

I thought he would turn the clock down for the Mac, but Cuda-Z reports I'm running at a core clock rate of 1006 MHz and my 3GBs of memory is running @ 6008 MHz.

I'm happy I spent the money on this baby, but Open CL is not yet supported in 10.8.5. I Believe it is in OS 10.9. Maybe the next release of the Web Driver by Nvidia will contain the necessary software to enable Open CL. The GTX780 made a decent showing in Bear Feats tests in Open CL, but they were running Mavericks (10.9)

With this card mounted in slot 1, the base under the card acts like a thermal plate, it heats up when the card is under load and cools down when the card is at idle.

I'm attaching a couple of screen shots that shows the results of Heaven and Valley.

Nice benchmarks! Are you beating the Titan with the modded card?

Just for kicks I ran the same Heaven benchmark on my lowly EVGA GTX 760+.

Make a try with the Flowrider's settings and my two cents you will not get the same results with your GTX 760...;)

I had set my benchmark settings to the same as Lou's before I ran it. I think the problem is the full screen setting. My monitor is only 1920 x 1080 so maybe that's why the result page says that.

Anyway his 780 kicks butt there's no doubt.

I noticed the card you linked is 2x8 pin. Are you using any adapters?

^^^^No, as I said the card was modified by MacVidCards to work on the Mac Pro (3,1 to 5,1) using the internal Power Supply and the Macs two six pin cables.

    Nice Score Lou!!

Congrats Lou, the card and Heaven score look awesome.

Your card is way ahead of mine, and by a good 500 points.

Ran Tests again with the just released Nvidia Web driver. Scores up a bit. Still no Open CL support for the GTX780. It should be coming in Mavericks.

Ran this benchmark again, made sure the resolution was 1920 x 1200, not windowed though. Got what I paid for, i.e. midrange numbers.

Maybe I should have sprung for a GTX 770.

The Gigabyte GTX570 that I have for sale in the MarketPlace section of this forum ran the attached Heaven 3.0 results.

I downloaded Mavericks GM last night and installed it this morning. Open CL now works. OceanWave appears to give an inaccurate score, and LuxMark works one time, and then won't restart without another unzip:confused: Anyway, my Room score was higher than Bear Feats, I guess because my card is over clocked.
