+2 with iKlear. That stuff is amazing for anything that needs cleaned, tv's, phones, computers, ipods, any lcd screens, etc.

I personally use gasoline and a sheet of 30 grit sandpaper to clean my iphone. Really helps to buff out those tough finger smudges.

One of the main reasons people will say microfiber cloth, or a cotton hankie/shirts in a pinch is because paper products like tissues and paper towels are abrasive and will scratch or wear away anti-scratch coatings.

Means your glasses and soft plastics like polycarbonate will get fine scratches quicker.

Because it's glass. Windex is a glass cleaner. It works great to clean iPhones, but not as great as rubbing alcohol.

Nope. It won't hurt your iPhone which, in case you missed it - is made of glass.

I've been using windex to clean both my original and my 3GS for years. Not just the glass, but the whole thing! There has been no degradation on the oleophobic coating and they both look brand new.

The instructions that come with the phone say clean with soap and water.

isopropyl is the best solution. it sanitizes and evaporates quickly. it's harmless to your coatings on the screen.
