I just wanted to confirm that my Gmail accounts along with my 1 Yahoo! account (used for push Beejive) are all pushing since i updated to the 3.0 beta (legally, father is a registered developer, so my UUID is registered as well).

Can anyone else also confirm that there email is pushing as well on 3.0? Thanks!

I know my dad's iPhone is also pushing his Gmail accounts along with his Me account too.

That's exciting... I can finally get rid of my Yahoo! account. I've had my gmail forwarded there since I got my first iPhone.

Wish I would have known about this while I was using 3.0.

So when you go into the Fetch New Data settings and goto Advanced and then your gmail account, it shows 3 schedule options instead of just the 2 that I have now (Fetch and Manual)?

I've been experiencing the same. OSX's Mail.App and my iPhone both beep about new mails at the same time.

Yeah, do you mean that there is an option for gmail to push, or just that email is arriving in a push-like manner... ie. before the scheduled fetch time. 'Cause mine does that now on 2.2... gmail arrives at unpredictable times, usually right when it is picked up by my desktop mail client (which is before the 15 minute fetch interval it's supposed to be going by)

And actually no, it still says fetch and manual, but i continuously am testing with 2 iPhones and different email accounts, and they're pushing.

Unless they didn't want us to know this yet, idk?

mine does this too. iPhone and desktop clients both update at the same time

Maybe it might not be "true push" then since the option still isn't there for the Gmail accounts, however i guarantee you that right when someone sends me an email on my iPhone, it receives it instantly while its locked. I believe thats what push does? lol

Sounds cool, Kay :D Yeahh its George. This makes me want an iPhone!! :'(
EDIT: I believe push is where, when you make a change on one device - the change is pushed to every other device it is on.

can you confirm this while on 3g or edge. i believe on wifi it does push sometimes on 2.2.1. Thanks in advance!

Yes. Since day one it has worked well for me on my POP, Yahoo, and Gmail.

The push is even now arriving faster than on my BB Storm, which wasn't the case when 3.0 was first released. The iPhone got the mails about a minute after the storm but now receive them about 10 seconds faster.

Awesome! Thanks for confirming!

So GoogleSync for address book and calendar and Gmail for mail basically makes MobileMe useless for many people?

I recently took 3.0 off. It was way too buggy and the features I need to develop for work fine in the simulator for now. I'll wait for next beta to put it on my phone again, but this is great news.

I have had NO push for Gmail. It's been standard fetch.

There is no way to change the settings to Push in 3.0 when I set it up.

I noticed mail comes instantly with Gmail if the Mail.app is open (on the phone), even on 2.2.1 with WiFi. If Mail.app is closed, it fetches like it's set up to.

Just to verify.

I sent an email to my Gmail from my POP account on my computer.

My iPhone got it within a couple of seconds. Unreal how fast it works. The BB Storm got it a couple seconds later.

So, for me, Gmail push is active.

WiFi, EDGE, or 3G? Is Mail.app open (even if screen locked) or not?
