On the desktop it says there is 67 gb free

but if i 'get more info' on my hardrive, it says it only has about 25 gb free....???

How can this be, when ive got a bit of music and about 20gb of photos on here?

Also, if i reboot, it will change again to two different figures...

so i never kknow my true space left!

any help with this would be great.

virtual memory can take up quite some space, maybe that's the reason.
you can get OmniDiskSweeper and run it, it'll show you whats exactly taking space on your harddrive, both visible and invisible files, beware what you trash!
