Got a repair set up for tomorrow. You'd think they'd just replace it since they can't just make it perfectly even again...

Apple replaced mine back in June because of that.

Mind you, mine was not only crooked but it was loose so could move it with my thumb.

I just checked my wife's and it will rotate back and forth about 15-30 degrees. I just mad an appointment for this evening to get it looked at.

If any of you have ever removed a home button you will see that the square part behind the circle actually fits into the iPhone in an exact way, so I don't see how it can be crooked when there is almost no way it can be rotated without the square part being freed (by pushing it out from the front of the device). See image...

Maybe it was just "printed" wrong then?

The home button its hold by an adhesive that secure it to the frame. If it looses that adhesive it will move to the sides.

Why don't you just get a home button sticker? They are dirt cheap and if you get a tempered glass screen protector, they come with it for free!

I thought about this when it happened to me, since I have a couple of stickers that came with a spigen case I bought.

If his case it's the same as me, the sticker won't do anything. The button will still rotate and it will be misalign.

Oh. In that case he should just get a new home button. They will repair it at the genius bar

I can't twist it though, that's the problem. I have a feeling it's a different home button you have, maybe circular cut out instead of the square one shown in a few posts above?

I took my wife's phone in. They looked at it, pulled up the screen (in back) to try to re-seat the home button. They couldn't fix it. They offered to replace the screen assembly or replace the phone. I took the phone, duh.

I didn't care about the button appearance. I was concerned if it would eventually fail internally from the additional movement that obviously isn't intended. I have a 4 with a button that works 40-60% of the time. I figured with 1 month of warranty left, the time was now to get this taken care of.

I can't believe people are implying this is a minor or acceptable thing, or that covering it with a sticker is somehow a solution! This is a massively expensive phone at the end of the day - it has four buttons in total - I expect them all to look and work just perfectly thanks very much! If it was my phone I'd be straight in the apple store and expect to be straight out again too.

We're talking about maybe a 4 degree slant. It doesn't look like much and it's hardly bothersome. But if a free replacement comes out of it, why not...

I agree with you. My wifes was far more than 4 degree. I would say 15-20 degrees either way, and by lightly touching the button and turning your finger you could turn it back and forth. I was concerned about long term reliability of the device, as my wife will need to use it for at least another year. She uses her phone a lot and can't afford to be without it.

And to Apple's credit, they replaced it and didn't flinch. I asked him if he had seen this before, knowing it happens from this thread, and he said he has seen it, but not many. Something tells me it has to do with the number of times that button is pushed. I know my wife has pushed it a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if this problem becomes more prominent and she is just lucky she got there within a year.

Absolutely agree with you. Manufacturing defect is unacceptable and should be replaced. Even if it doesn't bother you, you'll take a hit reselling it to someone as they'll think something is wrong with the phone and won't pay you what it's worth. You shouldn't just have to "live with it" or cover it with a sticker.

I noticed two weeks ago my home button was the same way. I just put my finger on it and twisted lightly and it went OK.

I am not going to worry about it until it breaks.

Mike

I know this is off topic but I am currently rockin the same Spigen Slim Armor case as you. (Black on black.)

The case is awesome!

Scratches easily though. Surprised you could tell just from the border.
